North Texas’ Dan McCarney recovering from surgery

North Texas coach Dan McCarney is once again dealing with health issues. A release from UNT today states that McCarney is back at work one week after undergoing a surgical procedure at the recommendation of his doctor.

Though the nature of the procedure was not identified, CFT was told it by a source that it was heart bypass surgery. ESPN’s Brett McMurphy is also reporting McCarney underwent bypass surgery.

“The medical staff was outstanding,” McCarney said. “I put my future in their hands and everything went great. I have already begun the road to recovery and am excited to be back in the office working toward making the Mean Green football program better.”

McCarney suffered a stroke in February of last year, but the third-year coach insisted at the time it was nothing a little Grey Goose couldn’t fix. I imagine the same applies here.

Anyway, our best wishes go to McCarney as he continues to recover.
