Ex-'Husker four-star Brion Carnes moves on to Northern Iowa

Somewhat quietly, Brion Carnes announced his intention to transfer from Nebraska following spring practice. Now, the quarterback-turned-wide receiver has apparently found a new collegiate home.

On his Facebook page Wednesday, Carnes announced that he will be attending Northern Iowa and playing football for the FCS program. The school has yet to confirm Carnes’ addition to the roster.

As Northern Iowa plays at the FCS level, Carnes will be eligible to play immediately in 2013.

Carnes spent the 2011 season as the primary backup to Taylor Martinez (no relation), playing in three games that year. In 2012, he moved to receiver but did not see the playing field.

A four-star member of the Cornhuskers’ 2010 recruiting class, he was rated as the country’s No. 7 dual-threat quarterback.
