North Texas DT arrested on drunk-driving charge

Sorry Ben; your alma mater has made CFT for all the wrong reasons.

The Denton Record-Chronicle is reporting that North Texas defensive tackle Richard Abbe was arrested early Thursday morning following a traffic stop. The defensive tackle was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.

There were no immediate details as to what led to the initial traffic stop.

Abbe has been indefinitely suspended by head coach Dan McCarney, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery two weeks ago.

After starting four games last season, Abbe was listed as a starter on the Mean Green’s post-spring depth chart.
