Report: add Michigan to Brandon Mitchell’s transfer wish list

ESPN’s Joe Schad reported earlier this week that USF, North Carolina State, UAB, Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State were in the running to land former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Mitchell.

Per Schad again, add Michigan to the list of possible destinations for Mitchell.

“The 6-foot-4, 239-pound Mitchell wants to play quarterback but if he were to go to Michigan he could be utilized as a multi-dimensional weapon because of the presence of quarterback Devin Gardner,” Schad writes.

Mitchell is on track to graduate from Arkansas and will be eligible to play this upcoming season. Though his chances of starting for the Wolverines would be slim at best with Gardner as the clear No. 1, he would add depth after the loss of Russell Bellomy. Bellomy tore his ACL during spring practices and is probably out for the season. The Wolverines were reportedly interested in former Florida State QB Clint Trickett as well, though Trickett eventually signed with West Virginia.

A longtime backup who also saw time at wide receiver, Mitchell was released from his scholarship earlier this week after losing out on the Hogs’ quarterback battle to Brandon Allen.
