Colorado’s Jordan Webb, Alex Lewis arrested for assault

Not good.

Citing the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Denver Post is reporting that Colorado quarterback Jordan Webb and former lineman Alex Lewis were arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree assault. Additionally, Lewis is facing two counts of harassment. The assault charge is considered a felony in Colorado and carries a mandatory prison sentence if there’s a conviction.

Details of what led to the booking are still being gathered.

“Jordan’s exact involvement in this incident is still being investigated,” coach Mike MacIntyre said in a statement. “We continually stress the importance of appropriate behavior to our players and do not tolerate any detrimental conduct in our football program. Once all of the facts come to light, if Jordan is found responsible for any misconduct, he will be disciplined according to team rules.

“As for Alex Lewis, as of Friday he was off of the team when he did a media interview and announced that he is transferring to Nebraska. Since he is no longer a Colorado Buffalo, it will be up to Nebraska to decide what discipline he might face.”

Webb tore his ACL last month and was initially thought to be done for the 2013 season. However, his progress in rehab has led to suggestions that he could be available by October. Webb started the first nine games of the 2012 season.

Lewis announced this past week he would transfer to Nebraska where his father, Bill Lewis, played in the 1980’s. Lewis started all 12 games for the Buffaloes last season. As the process of this legal problem is just beginning to unfold, it’s impossible to guess what this means for the future of both players.

Didn’t take Lewis very long to learn how to roll like a Husker

This is the most headline type the Buffaloes have received in a single week in a very long time. Feel sorry for MacIntyre as it was all negative.

I’m sure somebody will find a SEC jab in there somewhere

    Holy Buffalo Batman..

This program just can’t get any positive traction on the field or off.

MacIntyre may set the tone and make an example of Webb. Webb isn’t all that great to begin with and was probably going to miss most of the season anyway; the hammer could fall pretty hard on him and not change anything in terms of the depth chart for most of the season.

5 posts and not a single one suggesting that Colorado is an SEC team? What is this blog turning into, Ben? I’m losing a lot of faith in it…
