Following the departure of Kaleb Ringer last week, Michigan confirmed Monday morning that two more seldom-used defenders — safety Marvin Robinson (pictured, center) and linebacker Mike Jones — have left the team.
No reason was given for the departures and it’s not clear where the two seniors will transfer to, if they transfer at all.
Of the two, Robinson figured to see at least some playing time this year. He’s appeared in 28 games over his career and started against Notre Dame in 2011. Jones began the 2011 season as the a starting linebacker, but fell down the depth chart and didn’t start a game.
More than anything, the departures affect defensive depth. Robinson and Jones are the seventh and eighth Wolverines to depart the program since the end of the 2012 season.
