More attrition hits Michigan’s defense

Josh Furman, Marvin Robinson, Courtney Avery AP

Following the departure of Kaleb Ringer last week, Michigan confirmed Monday morning that two more seldom-used defenders — safety Marvin Robinson (pictured, center) and linebacker Mike Jones — have left the team.

No reason was given for the departures and it’s not clear where the two seniors will transfer to, if they transfer at all.

Of the two, Robinson figured to see at least some playing time this year. He’s appeared in 28 games over his career and started against Notre Dame in 2011. Jones began the 2011 season as the a starting linebacker, but fell down the depth chart and didn’t start a game.

More than anything, the departures affect defensive depth. Robinson and Jones are the seventh and eighth Wolverines to depart the program since the end of the 2012 season.

The hits keep coming for Brady “THE JOKE” Hoke. Urban Meyer is running that NORM from CHEERS look alike back to the MAC.

Hits? See the term… ‘seldom used’.

You know PH… reading is fundamental.

I’d rather be playing some fresh guys with the potential to move up the depth chart, instead of those who were moving down… which describes every departed player.

I understand guys wanting to play… but since they’re not obviously ‘all in’ with their current situation, I’d rather they move on and play somewhere else.

Those three guys would of never started anyways over the younger players. Don’t worry Meyer will have ohio in trouble just like he had Florida.

Three open roster spots….time to go to Ohio and import some more players (that OSU didn’t want) to that talent-less state up north.

    BT – C’Mon man… at least be accurate…

Michigan players have no desire to cross into Columbus… and we get many talented guys who didn’t want to play, nor stay in Ohio!

Sounds like a more appropriate headline would be Michigan loses Special Teams depth.

Glad to see Brady Hoke embrace the Process!
