Report: Webb, Lewis knocked man unconscious in fight

Colorado quarterback Jordan Webb and former Buffs lineman Alex Lewis were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of assault charges stemming from a Saturday incident. At the time, not much was known about what led to the arrest. That is slowly beginning to change.

And suffice to say, it’s not good. Reportedly.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports that Webb and Lewis were in an altercation with a victim after Lewis and the man bumped into each other around 3 a.m. Saturday morning. That led to a verbal argument and eventually a shoving match between the two. That’s when, according to witnesses in a Boulder police report, Lewis repeatedly shoved the victim’s head into a brick wall and both players proceeded to push the man down to the ground, punching him. Witnesses also say they watched Lewis grab the victim “around the throat and throw him into a parking kiosk, knocking him unconscious.”

The man was later transported to Boulder Community Hospital for his injuries.

The report goes on to state that a black SUV arrived at the scene and someone from inside the car called out to Webb and Lewis. However, that car left the scene once police arrived.

Lewis told police he and Webb had been in Denver celebrating a friend’s graduation and were on their way home when they ran into the victim. According to Lewis, the man attempted to punch Lewis multiple times. Lewis also admitted to drinking heavily that night, including six glasses of wine, 10 beers and six shots of various alcohol. Friends of the victim said he had been drinking as well. Lewis said Webb was not involved in the shoving.

The assault charges both players face are felonies and carry a mandatory prison sentence. Additionally, Lewis is currently facing two counts of harassment. CU coach Mike MacIntyre said in a statement that Webb’s involvement is still being investigated, so no action is currently being taken.

Webb started most of Colorado’s 1-11 season last year. He tore his ACL in spring practice, but it was recently thought that he might be back at some point this season. Lewis started all 12 games for the Buffs last year, but announced he planned to transfer to Nebraska last week.

This shit doesn’t get any better. It is time to start taking agressive actions on these characters before some poor student is mamed for life.

Whatever happened to get hammered and pass out?

I used to drink in copious amounts like that, and started the same kind of “fights”. Sounds to me like they were just unprovoked, drunken bullies.
