Report: Washington RB transferring to San Jose State

Washington’s running back depth has taken a little bit of a hit. Reportedly.

Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News reports that Huskies running back Erich Wilson is transferring from the program to San Jose State. Durkin goes on to write that Wilson is from the Bay Area and wants to be closer to home. His choices were Cal and SJSU, but not surprisingly, Washington reportedly only granted his release to the latter.

Officially, Washington has not commented.

As a true freshman in 2012, Wilson picked up 145 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. However, with the return of Bishop Sankey, Washington is pretty much set at running back. Unless he received a special waiver, Wilson would have to sit out the 2013 before returning to the field as a redshirt sophomore in 2014.
