Most incoming college players will spend the next few months trying to get acquainted with their new playbook and teammates. Incoming Iowa State defensive back Kamari Cotton-Moya is just lucky to be alive after coming close to being seriously injured by a gunshot.
In an interview with the Ames Tribune, Cotton-Moya said he and a friend were shot while leaving a friend’s house in East Bakersfield, Calif. early Sunday morning. Cotton-Moya was grazed in the shoulder, but his friend was hit in the face and shoulder.
“I was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Cotton-Moya told the paper. “It wasn’t on purpose.”
Both he and his friend are thankfully okay, though Cotton-Moya said he was more concerned about his friend’s condition than his own. The incoming DB says he’s already back to lifting weights and is a “full-go” for this summer.
Still, that had to have been a terrifying experience. It’s just good to hear Cotton-Moya is alright.
