Back in late April, new Tennessee head coach Butch Jones emphatically stated that suspended running back Marlin Lane was “absolutely on the path” for a return.
A little more than a month later, Lane’s path is all clear. Reportedly.
According to a tweet Wednesday afternoon by Knoxville radio personality Jimmy Hyams, and citing an unnamed source, Lane has indeed climbed out of Jones’ doghouse and been reinstated to the football team. Lane was suspended for disciplinary reasons back in mid-April and missed a significant portion of spring practice because of his issues.
The school has yet to publicly confirm Lane’s reinstatement.
Last season, Lane finished second on the Vols with 658 yards.
