Tired of Tide recruiting literature? Irish commit says flush ‘em

Recruiting is a never-ending game, both for the high school player and the college coaching staffs beating their feet and other appendages on an ever-competitive and increasingly brutal trail.

Even for those high schoolers who give a verbal commitment to School X, the constant pitching never stops from School Y... and School Z... and back on through the start of the alphabet.

Exhibit A? Elijah Hood.

The Charlotte, NC, product is a five-star player according Rivals.com, rated as the No. 3 running back in the country. And the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina. And the No. 13 player at any position. So, yes, he’s a sought-after recruit for a class that will sign eight months or so from now.

Hood is also a Notre Dame commit, giving his verbal to the Irish in late April following what appeared to be a very positive two-and-a-half day official visit to South Bend. Still, as expected, other schools have continued to recruit the player, including RB-loving Nick Saban and Alabama.

In response to the Tide’s efforts, and in a unique twist on taking to social media to burn unwanted paper overtures, Hood decided to use water to douse the flames of interest. Specifically, toilet water:

And, for posterity, the audio that accompanied the video?

“Dang, Nick Saban hooked your boy up. Roll toilet,” which was accompanied by the requisite #RollToilet hashtag on Twitter.

Suffice to say, it doesn’t appear Hood will be switching his verbal to the two-time defending BCS champs, the ones that dropped the Irish for their third crystal football in four years back in January, anytime soon.
