Sentenced in March for poisoning the oak trees at  Auburn’s Toomer’s Corner, Harvey Updyke will be released from jail on Monday, according to al.com.

Updyke has been incarcerated for six months as part of a three-year split sentence. He was already credited with 104 days of jail time when he agreed to plead guilty to one count of unlawful damage of an animal or crop facility two months ago. Once out, Updyke will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

Updyke will not be allowed to attend any college sporting event or talk with media, and is banned from any Auburn University property as part of his plea deal.

The Lee County District Attorney’s Office is also seeking $1 million in restitution from Updyke. The oak trees at Toomer’s Corner were finally removed in April.

Where are they going to get a million from Harve?

@cometkazie: Where is Harve going to be staying when he is out? …..

Don’t tell me that!? I will contact southernpatriots to contact their friends the Swamp People or the bearded family of West Monroe. No Bienvenu for Harve!

This poor man has problems and it’s a shame that we live in a World where people make fun of those who have limited capacities along with other problems. My heart really goes out to em. I remember the oldest of the 3 Muskateers who went to Bama say that those who point fingers at others need to look at how many they have comin back at them. If that doesn’t get your attention comin from a 300 + pounder nothin will. Maybe since they’ve let Mr. Updyke out come Monday he’s had a change of heart in wantin to do some of what he did before.

What is the purpose of banning him from speaking?

  10. hotlantalaw says: Jun 9, 2013 7:30 AM

It was a tree. Who cares? Cut it up and make a great bonfire!

  11. rcbn says: Jun 9, 2013 8:42 AM

The man is ill but you have to think first an Oak tree maybe next time an Alabama fan or many Alabama fans. He needs to be supervised and made to seek professional health!

They were just Jewish tombstones, pieces of rock. Who cares if they spray painted swastikas and pissed on them?

    Bingo!

I wonder if he moved to the Florida Parishes because of the KKK activity there?

Get real. This dude is just a butt hurt fan who took something way to serious. If his actions indicate he has a “problem”, it only should be called “asshole”.

Great title, Ben. I’m still laughing…

  15. freerayray52 says: Jun 9, 2013 12:13 PM

They should ban him from univ of Alabama property too

  16. tigersgeaux says: Jun 9, 2013 5:19 PM

@freerayray52: If I am remembering correctly, the Univ. of Alabama did ban him from their facilities, football, everything. I think so, anyway. An Alabama fan might shed some light on this.

@cometkazie: Florida parishes, just send him the real thing…Florida, not Louisiana! I think there will be some hungry gators down there that need a big bite.

Ahem, tigersgeaux did you not get my message to get in touch with me? I left it with the doctor’s wife.

Lol sec crazies. It’s a freaking sport. Enjoy it have fun, but lets avoid going insane.

  19. tlmoon2112 says: Jun 10, 2013 4:19 PM

It makes no sense for the new face of Alabama sports to be banned from their events. This guy is the norm around Bama fans, not the exception.

  20. brewcrewfan54 says: Jun 10, 2013 4:29 PM

He’s got a sweet new mustache!

  21. tigersgeaux says: Jun 10, 2013 6:11 PM

    tlmoon2112:

LSU fans in New Orleans think the norm for Bama fans is a fan exposing himself and sexually assaulting a passed out fan. It sparked a new t-shirt.

    Sec sec sec lol

I have finally realized why you say the same thing in every post. The obvious reason is that you’re not intelligent enough to add anything else.

Three of the last five times your precious Buckeyes were in March Madness, they were sent home by SEC teams. Three different SEC teams.

I don’t blame you, seeing as how Ohio State is inept against the SEC in both football AND basketball.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. “SEC! SEC! SEC!” indeed!

It’s obvious your school gets owned by numerous SEC schools in several sports, so feel happy you can finally root for a winner.

Since Ohio State teams have been bested by Florida, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia in the postseason .. it looks like you have plenty of teams to choose from ^_^ SEC! SEC! SEC!

The worst part of his plea deal is no talking with the media. That means we have to wait 5 years for the public display of remorse from Harvey. I actually would like to see if his experience gained him any sanity.
