Manziel’s angry tweet was fueled by a… parking ticket?

It’s probably somewhere around here that we’ve officially hit the low point of the Johnny Manziel saga(ish).

As John posted over the weekend, Manziel sent out an early morning tweet on Sunday venting over some unknown point of frustration.

“Bull**** like tonight is a reason why I can’t wait to leave college station…whenever it may be,” Manziel wrote before removing the tweet. The Heisman Trophy winner later followed up with  “Don’t ever forget that I love A&M with all of my heart, but please please walk a day in my shoes.”

Turns out the source of Manziel’s angst was nothing more than a parking ticket. Reportedly. According to Brent Zwerneman of the San Antonio Express-News:

Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, had been fishing in Port Aransas on Saturday and was still on the coast when he talked over the phone to an officer*, who wrote him a ticket for being parked the wrong way in front of his house and for his windows being tinted too dark (his vehicle was in College Station while he was with friends in Port Aransas), according to the insider. Manziel tweeted out his frustrations in dealing with the matter, quickly removed the post, followed with a tweet that he loved A&M but for people to please walk in a day in his shoes.

(*This has since been modified to say the officer spoke to Manziel’s roommate. The information was then relayed to Manziel.)

Speculation about the source of said “bullspit” was followed later this week by a report from the Dallas Morning News that Johnny Football almost never came to be as A&M initially suspended Manziel for the season following his offseason arrest in 2012. Manziel was reportedly considering a transfer when his appeal of the suspension was approved and the rest is, well, you know.

So now that that whole thing’s been cleared up, how ’bout we go back to Manziel going to basketball games and meeting Megan Fox?

I have no love for A&M and just don’t buy into all the pub they are getting.

However, I was one that thought the whole tweet thing was blown WAY out of proportion and had more to do with who he is than anything else.

Now that the truth comes out, he’s looking more and more like a spoiled brat.

Finebaum stated yesterday that Manziel is making it easier and easier to dislike himself, and now this comes out. Imagine that, Finebaum knowing what he’s talking about.

If a parking ticket got him that upset, I can’t imagine what he felt like after last years bar incident.
I think somebody needs to put on some big boy pants now.

I just like to watch him play football.

Poor guy gets a parking ticket. Life can be so hard. I hope Coach Whitfield gives him a big hug.

If this is true then the kid has an insane sense of entitlement and knows nothing of real adversity. 99.9999% of the world’s population would love to walk a day in his shoes.

WOW what a loser. He got a ticket? Didn’t he explain how he won a trophy and he was above everybody else now? He can’t even handle the stress of going to school now, I guess it’s easier to have someone else do your work for you if you don’t have to even show up. Grow up.

  7. brianincbus says: Jun 19, 2013 3:42 PM

Yeah, God forbid I have to walk a day in his shoes. Oh to suffer through being a heisman trophy winning quarterback with a model girlfriend and loaded parents. Boy, some people really have it bad.

The last thing that I would do is piss off the local police.

When’s the last time you spoke over the phone to an officer who’d just issued you a parking ticket? How does that even happen? Manziel wasn’t even in town, so somebody would have had to of called him about the ticket and somehow put him in touch with the officer? Did Johnny call him up hoping his name would get him out of the ticket? Or did the officer somehow get Manziel’s cell phone number? Weird.

The slow moving train wreck is picking up just a little bit of speed. Just wait until the season starts. Didn’t A&M lose some high caliber o-lineman? It’s going to be fun. Tate Forcier 2.0.

Like I said… This kid is a fricken nutcase. Maybe it’s time he goes on meds before he has a rampage and kills someone.

Heisman or no, this kid has a large immuturity problem.

People on here bashing are embarrassing. I’m pretty positive I have never gotten a traffic ticket without saying this is bullspit!

Bull**** like tonight is a reason why I can’t wait to leave college station

Just imagine Maziel’s shock when he realizes that College Station isn’t the only city in America that issues parking citations…

WOW… what a D-Bag. I thought something major had happened to him to cause that sort of reaction.

True enough. Bet you didn’t call the officer up on the phone though, did you? (Not even sure how that happens…Johnny got somebody to track the guy down? Or do traffic tickets in College Station include contact info for the officer?) He seriously expected to talk his way out of a ticket over the phone? For something as obvious as being parked going the wrong way?

  23. dgreenfi says: Jun 19, 2013 8:28 PM

And that’s why they call him Johnny Football and not Johnny Parking.

  24. dcroz says: Jun 19, 2013 8:54 PM

So how long before we start referring to Johnny Football as Johnny Bieber?

  25. soundsofsuccess7 says: Jun 19, 2013 9:03 PM

Yeah, probably an overreaction, but campus police tend to be huge pricks.

  26. crazyfootballfun says: Jun 19, 2013 10:20 PM

I think we are beginning to see the reasons behind the coaches muzzling of Johnny they wish they still could.

  27. dkhhuey says: Jun 19, 2013 11:58 PM

    Johnny Football = Johnny Diva

  28. ddjesus says: Jun 20, 2013 1:36 AM

“I dare you to walk a day in my shoes…” boo freaking hoo. Turns out Johnny isn’t some kind of tragic star suffering from being too famous and popular, he’s just a stupid kid.

We should stop treating these athletes like sages. When RG3 begins raving about the so called tyranny of political correctness, why do we treat him like a philosopher and not as a 22 year old kid?

  29. saintjohnwhodat says: Jun 20, 2013 2:15 AM

How’s he gonna handle the pressure of the nfl and under that microscope? Mental toughness and dealing with off the field issues from any range of instances can derail a football player with weak mental toughness

  30. toochilled says: Jun 20, 2013 12:12 PM

hmm, when I was a sophomore in college I didn’t drive a Benz, I had a beater that I bought myself. Boo Hoo, dum dum can’t park, cry me a river kid! SEC Defenses are licking their chops to hit this little biotch.

  31. amosalanzostagg says: Jun 20, 2013 6:52 PM

    Think about it.

A car is parked the wrong way on a residential street and a Barney Fife just happens to drive up the street on an early Sunday morning. He (or she) runs the plates and sees that it is Johnny Manziel’ vehicle. The officer then calls the house to notify Johnny Manziel that he is receiving a ticket for parking the wrong way and that his tint is too dark? Why doesn’t the officer just write the ticket and leave? Why even issue the ticket? Why not a warning ticket?

Seems like a cop with a chip on their shoulder and can’t wait to ask Andy if he can put the bullet in his gun. It was a chicken s*** issue and a chicken s*** response by

Johnny welcome to life. You’re a master of what you say and a slave to what you have said. Own it.

  32. barbeaux says: Jun 21, 2013 1:22 AM

I think people are missing the overall picture. Manziel was out of town during this. First, we don’t know how the conversation went between him and the cop. Also, who on here is all happy go lucky when getting tickets? I don’t condemn him for getting frustrated for getting a ticket. They’re such a hassle.
