Updated: Bob Stoops’ home burglarized early Wednesday morning

Well, this is a scary situation.

According to multiple reports, including the Tulsa World and ESPN.com, the home of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was burglarized early Wednesday morning at around 3:30 a.m. A car was among the items said to be taken from the residence. Stoops himself was in Wichita, Kan., and the family was unaware the home had been robbed until they woke up that morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

The Norman Police Department is investigating the incident, but no one has been arrested in connection to the burglary yet.

It’s been an eventful couple of months for the Stoops family for all the wrong reasons. In May, the devastating tornado that ripped through central Oklahoma came “about a mile” from Stoops’ home.

All things considered, the Stoops family is fortunate things haven’t turned out worse.

Updated 1:30 p.m. ET: There’s not a lot of new information in the burglary incident at Bob Stoops’ house, but OU did send out a statement Thursday afternoon. It doesn’t say much, but here it is:

“Coach Stoops and Carol appreciate the concern expressed for their family and appreciate the efforts of local authorities who are handling this matter.”
