Navy’s former starting QB no longer enrolled at academy

All the attention toward Navy over the past week has been linked to the sexual assault case involving three current and former football players. But the Academy is dealing with a departure as well.

According to a report from The (Annapolis, Md.) Capital this past week, former starting quarterback Trey Miller has been dismissed from the academy for what is being called an honors violation related to academics. Navy would only confirm that Miller is no longer enrolled.

“We can confirm that Midshipman Miller is no longer enrolled at the U.S. Naval Academy,” public affairs officer John Schofield told the paper. “Midshipman Miller’s disenrollment was determined through internal administrative proceedings. Midshipmen are afforded privacy in these proceedings and details are not releasable.”

Miller started the first five games of last season for the Midshipmen, but turnover problems led to him being replaced by freshman Keenan Reynolds. Miller finished the season with 399 yards passing and 293 yards rushing with five total touchdowns. He was moved to slotback this spring.
