iPhone theft results in dismissal for Gophers LB

Whoops.

Minnesota will be without one of its linebackers this fall as Lamonte Edwards has been kicked off the team, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Officially, Edwards has been given the boot for violating team rules, but the Tribune writes that “Edwards was arrested after an iPhone was stolen from a weight room in a Gophers athletics building on June 18. Tracking software led police to Edwards, who first said the phone belonged to his cousin. When questioned later by U of M Police, he admitted he stole the phone from the weight room, according to the warrant.”

In 11 games as a sophomore in 2012, and in one start, Edwards recorded eight tackles.
