Receiver Tyler Slavin leaving Arizona

With just a month or so left until the start of summer camp, Arizona’s experience and depth at the wide receiver position has taken an unexpected hit.

Via Twitter, Tyler Slavin announced Saturday that he “will be leaving the University of Arizona.” The receiver gave no reason for his decision, and did not indicate to where he may transfer to continue his playing career.

UA subsequently confirmed that Slavin had left the team and his name has already been removed from the team’s official online roster.

The past two seasons -- he redshirted as a true freshman in 2010 -- Slavin appeared in 18 games. In 2012, he caught 22 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown.

That lone touchdown was an important one, however, as it proved to be the game-winning score in the Wildcats’ New Mexico Bowl win over Nevada.
