Penn State says tentative settlements reached with Sandusky victims

Penn State may or may not be planning on meeting with the NCAA in an attempt to reduce the sanctions levied against the program, but the university is definitely moving forward with another, and far more important, aspect of the Jerry Sandusky fallout.

PSU trustees told the Associated Press that tentative agreements with Sandusky’s victims have been reached. The amounts of the settlements weren’t disclosed, but those could be revealed in the coming weeks when the agreements are expected to become final.

“As we have previously said, the university intends to deal with these individuals in a fair and expeditious manner, with due regard to their privacy,” PSU president Rodney Erickson said in a statement

Sandusky, a longtime defensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions, was convicted a year ago of 45 counts of child sexual abuse. He is currently serving a 30-60 year sentence.
