Teams all across the country are just trying to avoid headlines this time of year. Unfortunately for UTSA, there’s one involving defensive end Will Ritter.
A statement from the university Monday said that Ritter was suspended from team activities because of an “incident.”
“We are aware of the incident involving Will Ritter and he is suspended indefinitely from all team activities while we review the matter,” head coach Larry Coker said in a statement.
That “incident”, according to a police affidavit, was likely related to Ritter’s arrest early Sunday morning outside a bar in downtown Austin. Ritter allegedly hit two females and then one male who was knocked unconscious. He currently faces misdemeanor charges of assault with injury and public intoxication.
Ritter, a senior, has played 18 games, starting 13. He had 26 tackles last season and was second on the team with 3 1/2 sacks.
