Tajh Boyd not taking the ‘scared’ bait from Jadeveon Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney, Talh Boyd AP

So far, the major story coming out of SEC Media Days — that doesn’t have the name Johnny Manziel attached to it — is South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney naming off quarterbacks he says are scared of him.

Clowney specifically targeted Clemson quarterback Tajh Boydwhom he sacked 4.5 times last season in a 27-17 win.

“You can see in his eyes that he’s scared of our D-line. He is scared every time we play them,” Clowney said of Boyd. “I know he’s listening to this right now but I’m telling the truth.”

Whether Boyd is or isn’t scared of Clowney, the redshirt senior quarterback isn’t taking the preseason bait.

“I’ll tell you man, honestly, there’s some things I would definitely like to say but I’m just not going to entertain it,” Boyd said via the USA Today. “I mean, we haven’t beaten those guys in a good bit now and there’s nothing else really to be said about it.

“We just have to go out there and beat those guys, and that’s really all there is to it.”

Clemson hasn’t defeated South Carolina since 2008, meaning Boyd’s never known victory against the Gamecocks either. If Boyd can pull off a victory in Williams-Brice Stadium come November, the last time he and Clowney will meet on a college field, he won’t have to say anything at all.

Never happen. Boyd will never know the taste of victory against THE GAMECOCKS! 5 IN A ROW BABY!

  2. classyjacklambert says: Jul 17, 2013 8:25 PM

    Way to outclass them Tajh.

  3. jets12 says: Jul 17, 2013 8:35 PM

Outclass them is not really what this is about. The fact is Tajh hasn’t had any success against the Gamecocks so not really much he can say. And really this is about college kids jabbing one another and not much more than that. If anyone takes it more serious than that then they should get out more.

  4. cuckflemson says: Jul 17, 2013 8:44 PM

Your coach insults our entire university and fanbase (after a USC smackdown) and he’s a hero. Your weak qb talks smack about our d-line (and then gets destroyed by said d-line) and he has “swagger” . Your drug addicted star receiver talks crap about Georgia and he’s confident. But let someone else talk about clemtech and you weak, hypocritical, p*ss* tiger fans get your long johns all bunched up. Your team, coach, and fanbase are a joke. Can’t wait to destroy you again at WillyB. See you in November losers. All in…… Hahaha!

  5. bralinshan says: Jul 17, 2013 9:02 PM

I’d also like to ask Clowney what the Cocks have won since he’s been there?

In the weaker SEC East, the Cocks haven’t even reached an SEC title game, let alone won an actual title.

Until the Gamecocks win SOMETHING legit, talking trash about Clemson isn’t that interesting. Wow, you own Clemson?

That S.C. vs Clemson rivalry just doesn’t excite like say…Alabama vs. LSU.

  6. remyje says: Jul 17, 2013 9:02 PM

Outclassing would be having something to say and not saying it. He has nothing to say

  7. planck16 says: Jul 17, 2013 9:13 PM

    @cuckflemson

Nice online name you are using, I am sure the guys at the lumber yard you work at get a kick out of it.

You are that guy who is so insecure that he yells at his girlfriend over old boyfriends constantly. Tajh said nothing, your boy Clowney did. No trash talking from Clemson’s side, just acknowledgement that Clemson needs to get back to owning South Carolina. Drug addicted wide receiver? That is funny, if every guy from South Carolina that got caught drinking or doing drugs is addicted, then WillyB would look like BettyF!

Worry about beating some teams from the SEC West, then beat your chest, because right now your bragging rights only go about 150 miles in each direction

  8. cuckflemson says: Jul 17, 2013 9:23 PM

Personal insults tarwards someone you can neither hear nor see because he/she talked bad about your precious puddycats? Hahaha, and I’m insecure!? Keep’em coming sweetheart!

  9. mediocrebob says: Jul 17, 2013 10:21 PM

I think it’s funny bc Carolina hasn’t really done anything. They beat Michigan in a good game in a non BCS game. When will UsC finally go to a BCS game?

  10. Deb says: Jul 17, 2013 10:33 PM

Gosh, I’ve missed this place :)

  11. cuckflemson says: Jul 17, 2013 11:51 PM

Your coach barely won the Chic-fil-A bowl against a disinterested LSU team and claimed himself the national champion. Clemson is the Barney 5 of college football! I can’t wait to see what your “special” coach says this season!

  12. mjohnson34 says: Jul 17, 2013 11:53 PM

Clowney will never see an SEC title, much less a BCS title, and the really sad thing is, neither will spurrier.

  13. djhotpoet says: Jul 18, 2013 12:16 AM

@cuckflemson: I believe it’s spelled toward and not tarward, and it’s Barney Fife not Barney 5. Learn how to speak before you open your mouth. Must have gotten an education from USC. Everybody knows you don’t have to be the brightest to get in. Prime example: Jadeveon Clowney. And it’s that bad that Clemson beat a disinterested LSU team, well that same LSU team beat South Carolina. Where was Clowney then?

@Planck16 Found this concerning clemson. Not even an updated list. For the most part just includes football. Point is every program has it’s problems. 16. planck16 says: Jul 18, 2013 8:08 AM

Wow, people transferred or were released from the team. What criminals! Half of those are from the fight with USC! See, I am glad you did this because it shows that Clemson either suspends or removes troubled players. None of the USuCk guys were disciplined or kicked off the team: Please see Stephen Garcia.

  17. floridacock says: Jul 18, 2013 8:16 AM

WOW! You guys have WAY too much time on your hands. There is no discussion here. USC has beaten Clemson, supposedly the ACC’s best, 4 in a row. Until that changes, Tiger fans will have to just eat crow and make personal jabs at Carolina and their fans, to satisfy their badly bruised egos.

@djhotpoet Yes we lost to LSU, barely, at the real Death Valley, but don’t forget in the previous game Clowney had 4.5 sacks against Clemson, AT Clemson in the Carolina beat down.

@bralinshan All rivalries are made in the hearts of those teams fans. To Carolina / Clemson fans their is no bigger and we don’t give a DAMN about your favorite or anyone else’s!

  18. planck16 says: Jul 18, 2013 8:20 AM

    65-41-4

  19. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 8:43 AM

planck16 you missed the point entirely. The list I presented is an incomplete, and is just football related, list but shows that all schools have problems. I don’t expect you to understand this or admit that clemson has ever had problems in the past. Your childish and boring outlook on everything clemson is just about what I would expect from someone that obviously builds their world around the lives of young men that perform on a football field.

  20. mediocrebob says: Jul 18, 2013 9:38 AM

I’m sorry but all of this is silly coming from programs that combined claim one national title.

  21. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 11:05 AM

    mediocrebob I agree 100%.

  22. suchajoke says: Jul 18, 2013 11:31 AM

Who cares about anything else off the field…..All programs have their share of thugs

Last I checked SCAR is currently dominating the rivalry, and Tajh Boyd is correct, he has nothing to say

He will have one last chance at WB, but I will be shocked if they go into there and get a win

  23. oldforester says: Jul 18, 2013 11:55 AM

Clown should keep his mouth more closely connected to his brain. There is no upside in his stupid statement other than negative attention. Just because you have a mouth, there is no guarantee anything important ever comes out of it.

  24. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 18, 2013 12:40 PM

@jets I have no dog in this fight at all but your list is artificially inflated…. A majority of those names are listed two and sometimes 3 times….

    12/01 Travis Zachery, arrested, drugs
12/01 Travis Zachery, suspended from school – related to drug arrest
12/01 Travis Zachery, kicked off the football team – related to drug arrest
    12/01 Akil Smith, arrested, drugs
12/01 Akil Smith, suspended from school – related to drug arrest
12/01 Akil Smith, kicked off the football team – related to drug arrest

I see what you are trying to prove here but its like saying you scored 28 times when the team puts up 4 tds…. Loses a bit of its credibility when you artificially inflate it like that….

  25. floridacock says: Jul 18, 2013 12:57 PM

There is only one team in history to win a NC and be slapped with probation the next year…..guess who?

  26. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 1:57 PM

8to80texansblog again my point is all schools have problems. It is not limited to a few. Again this is a partial list. Stops at 2008 and includes only football. I am just pointing out that almost no school is immune to bad apples and to insinuate that your particular school is, well that is disingenuous at best and a lie at worst.

  27. nicksabansanahole says: Jul 18, 2013 1:58 PM

Where is the @gamecocker? I need his take before I can accurately decide who is right and who is wrong. Btw there is an awful lot of foul mouthed USC fans on here. I am a Clemson fan and I appreciate the trash talk from Clowney. It’s just trash talk. Boyd said what he should have said. He is right. Ain’t done nothing to write home about in 4 years. But lets not let the last 4 years overshadow history and what’s to come in the future. When Spurrier is done at USC they will go back to being in a dogfight with Vanderbilt for the bid to San Francisco Emerald Nuts Holiday Bowl.

To gamecocker and all his alternative names. Clemson did beat Carolina the last time they played. The are on a short losing streak to South Crapolina.

At least the star player at Clemson has a team goal, unlike the Clown who’s only goal is to win the Heisman. At least it was before his AGENT chewed him out.

Players emulate their coaches. Ball Sack is known as having the loudest mouth and making Rex Ryan seem like a monk on a vow of silence. Guys the fans take after their coaches as well.

Win a title in our lifetime then you chickens can squawk. Until then, enjoy your cocks, no one else (esp females) do.

Have to disagree on that–and I’m a Bama fan, where national titles carry a lot of weight. These guys are rivals arguing for state pride. I think it’s great!

  32. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 2:49 PM

Jonkybon your act is very old and unnecessary. You spew so much bull that I bet even you don’t believe most of what you say. Anyone who has read your posts in the past know that you mis-handle the truth more than should be allowed and that more times than not you don’t have a clue what you are talking about. Since you know Clowney, you stated you have spoken to him and I doubt that you have, why don’t you give him a call and get his thoughts on what you think about him? Since we both know that is not going to happen why don’t you do all of us a favor and keep your uninformed and made up thoughts and stories to yourself.

  33. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 2:53 PM

Oh by the way jonkybon you should really stop with the lie about me using different names to post with. But I expect to much from someone who obviously depends on lying to get through his day. Yes you are one pathetic individual.

  34. jonkybon says: Jul 18, 2013 3:00 PM

@Jets12 and all his other names:

I have told Clowney what I thought of him. He smiled because what he understood he knew to be the truth. He’s kind of like you, all talk and very very little mind. I don’t have his number, but I don’t want it. Unlike you, I don’t live vicariously thru teenagers.

The only consumate liar here is you. Starting with the fact you can’t even communicate with one name. You’ve admitted before that 3/4 of everything you say is to bait others into responding.

Of coarse you want to get rid of me, because I know your game and call you on it. Now you will attack me gamecocker, cocksucker, cluckfemson, etc. Playing and agreeing with yourself is all you have. Truth hurts you bad!!!

  35. jets12 says: Jul 18, 2013 3:07 PM

You are straight up a liar. I have never said that I post to try and bait anyone and I only have one screen name that I use. Not only are you to stupid to understand that you continually come up with these delusional stories such as meeting and telling Clowney what you think of him. You are a liar on many fronts. Besides for you to meet anyone would mean that you have to come out of the basement that you live in and we both know that will never happen.

  36. classyjacklambert says: Jul 18, 2013 3:44 PM

Wow this thread has certainly taken a ridiculous turn.

At the guy who said he didn’t see what the big deal about this rivalry and that it wasn’t Alabama/LSU, you are right. This rivalry is more like Alabama/Auburn, it’s an in-state rivalry with way more tradition than LSU has with any of it’s opponents. There are still recent memories of no one really getting up for the Alabama/LSU games, no one can ever say that about Clemson/South Carolina. It’s a sold out game no matter if one team is winless and the other undefeated, let alone when both are 1-2 loss teams as has been the case recently.

  37. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 18, 2013 4:13 PM

Not living on that side of the country I guess I never realized how intense USC v Clemson is. It doesn’t get near the run of a Bama/Auburn, UT/A&M, or KU/Mizzou.

It is good to see that they can still keep the rivalry going even though they are both in seperate conferences….

(cough) DeLoss Dodds is a Douche (cough)

  38. classyjacklambert says: Jul 18, 2013 4:29 PM

It’s close in intensity to Alabama/Auburn but doesn’t have the accolades. It probably equals UT/A&M. And it far surpasses KU/Mizzou. I didn’t even know that last one was a rivalry until just now.
