Gators suspend Morrison for at least two games

Raymond Sanders, Antonio Morrison AP

Following up on the post right below this one, Florida head coach Will Muschamp has acted swiftly following yet another incident involving presumptive starting linebacker Antonio Morrison.

In a statement, Muschamp announced that Morrison has been suspended indefinitely from the football program and will miss at least the first two games of the 2013 season.  Morrison was arrested very early Sunday morning following a run-in with a police dog, which came a little over one month after he was arrested on an assault charge.

“I’m extremely disappointed in Antonio Morrison’s decision making,” Muschamp said in the statement.

The Gators open the upcoming season at home against Toledo Aug. 31, then travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes the following weekend.  Following a bye week, UF will open SEC play against Tennessee in The Swamp.

Duke Johnson is going to rip apart that Gators defense.

Between Miami’s gigantic offensive line and an severe lack of experience between the Gators LBs and safeties, it’s going to be a huge afternoon for Duke.

    Must be Urban’s fault.

How dare he bark at a police dog. The dog should sue for mental anguish.

My guess this tool will be suspended for The Citadel and anyone of the “Directional” community colleges scheduled by this SEC powerhouse.

Week 1 line for Toledo is around +21 right? Gators aren’t covering that.

They’ve played like crap in all their OOC games last year.

I guess you can take the “bite out of the dog by barking at him”. I think some see the parody in that…..

Of course it was only a matter of time before UF(elon) had another player arrested. And since Mustychump dissed tOSU and declared himself “100% responsible” there is no course here other than an apology and resignation. Time for UFelon to let the whole Urban Meyer thing go and acknowledge the problem lies within.

The Urban Meyer apologists are hilarious considering another one of his star pupils just caught a massive suspension in the NFL yesterday.

Meyer brought is culture to UF, and it’s going to take years to purge the cancer. This doesn’t just change over night. An entire program can’t fake a heart attack to rid themselves of this trouble.

When will MusChump be held accountable for his own players?? How many arrests do we need to see???

    Typical SECheat crap.

Guess Morrison has more Bark than bite. Some of you may be asking what a silly charge. But why antagonize a police dog? Why? This guy deserves what ever comes his way as far as penalties. Most people just keep on walking

Duke Johnson may have an avg day. Prob not though. Not with our loaded D. And ginormous D-line

Damn Urban Meyer… somebody call the Pre-crime Unit and ensure this one doesn’t get to murder people in the future…

Will Muschamp: 100% responsible for barking at a police dog.

Duke averaged TWENTY EIGHT YARDS RUSHING against good teams last year (FSU, ND,KS,NC) Stout defenses EASILY shut down that little pipsqueak. Too bad UM doesn’t have an every down back. Just Lil smurf the 3rd down back.

  18. kinggator says: Jul 22, 2013 10:05 AM

Big deal he’s suspended for 2 creampuff games. Go Gators!

  19. 35longmiles says: Jul 22, 2013 10:38 AM

Lol kinggator. So true. Stout teams push Lil Miami around like a D2.

UM- National Champions EVERY summer. Beat down depthless chumps every December. FACT.

Duke was hurt against FSU, so throw that one out the window.

ND was a 41-3 blowout, why would Miami be running the ball?

Kansas State was a 52-13 blowout, why would Miami be running the ball?

UNC was Mike James game, he took the majority of the carries, not very difficult to look up in a box score.

You sample size is way too small to say “stout” defenses shut him down.

He’s going to murder that mediocre Gators defense in a few weeks, no linebackers, no safties, an overmatched defensive line.

It’s going to be your Louisville nightmare all over again, but with an even more inferior UF defense and a laughably bad UF offense.

Barking at a Police Dog… what a disrespectful clueless clown. The dog barked at him first? Probably could smell the vapors of weed spewing out of this kid’s pours.

  22. gogatorsjohn says: Jul 22, 2013 12:44 PM

Justifying blowout losses for lack of running the ball. If Miami had established a running game in those losses maybe they wouldn’t have been a blowout. Unless special teams allowed TD in opening kick off and QB three a pick 6 after that. But C’mon, man.

  23. gatorprof says: Jul 23, 2013 10:34 AM

This is way overblown….here is a video of the arrest.

Antonio shouldn’t be out at All Sports at 3:45 am barking at a police dog, but this is just really stupid kid stuff. He shouldn’t have been arrested for it, see the statement from the sheriff. Resisting, hardly?

He shows a complete lack of judgement and is one of the dumber players that has graced the gator roster, but this is overblown.

That being said, I would likely cut him based on this lack of judgement after getting off on deferred prosecution for slugging the bouncer. The kid is trouble and will likely find it again.
