Backup Sooners LB arrested for suspicion of DUI

Londell Taylor

Back in late June, a starting member of Oklahoma’s defensive line was arrested on a drunk-driving complaint.  Less than a month later, a backup member of the Sooners’ linebacking corps has been hit with an alcohol-related arrest as well.

According to both Tulsa World and the Daily Oklahoman, linebacker Londell Taylor (no relation) was arrested early Sunday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence.  Taylor was also charged with driving with a canceled/suspended license.

No details of what led to the arrest have been released.

“We are aware of the situation. The matter is being handled internally,” an OU spokesperson told the World.

This is Taylor’s second alcohol-related arrest during his time in Norman.  In late September of 2011, the then–23-year-old freshman was involved in a car accident and subsequently charged with DUI.  Taylor blew a .14 after an accident that occurred less than an hour after an OU win over Missouri.

According to his bio on OU’s athletics page, Taylor was originally part of the Sooners’ 2007 signing class, but spent four years as part of the Detroit Tigers baseball organization. He was drafted by the Tigers in the 13th round of the 2007 MLB draft.

Taylor, who one of the papers reports was believed to be academically ineligible last season, has yet to play a down for the Sooners.

LMAO! I just posted something that should take a little bit of the sting out of the off-field arrest BS.

Ummm, it sounds like Mr. Taylor has a drinking problem. After all, it is his second arrest. Can’t imagine trying to hit curve ball after consuming alcohol. Maybe this is why he wasn’t successful playing baseball.

Activate the Bo Pellini rule—one screw up and you’re off the team. It is just that Stoops doesn’t have the internal courage!
