A couple of months after leaving Pittsburgh, it appears Deaysean Rippy has found a new football home that’s very familiar to his family.
According to Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com, the linebacker is close to finalizing his paperwork that would allow him to transfer to Colorado. CU has yet to confirm the addition to the Buffaloes, although that appears to be coming in short order.
Rippy is a relative of former CU linebacker Doug Rippy.
A four-star member of the Panthers’ 2012 recruiting class, Rippy was rated as the No. 21 outside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 9 player in the state of Pennsylvania. He took a redshirt as a true freshman in 2012.
To satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Rippy will be forced to sit out the 2013 season. Beginning in 2014, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
