Over the weekend, it was reported that three Middle Tennessee State football players had been arrested and charged in connection to an alleged assault.
Today, details have emerged and, quite frankly, they are disturbing.
The Murfreesboro Daily News Journal has obtained a copy of the campus police report, which alleges that two Blue Raider players – cornerback Rodney O’Neal and defensive tackle Marcus Robinson — videotaped teammate J.D. Jones allegedly choking a female victim. The choking, the report states, was an attempt by the defensive tackle to get the female to cough up money that would be used to buy marijuana.
That incident wasn’t the only one allegedly involving Jones and the female victim: From the paper:
The victim accused Jones of numerous assaults from October 2012 to May 2013. She recalled details of three specific incidents, according to the police report. In the third incident, the victim said Jones hit her with a pink baseball-type bat.
Jones was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, while O’Neal and Robinson were charged with two counts each of aiding and abetting. All three were subsequently suspended indefinitely by the football program.
Jones was likely the only of the three players in line for significant playing time in 2013.
