Charges dropped against Morrison in latest arrest

Message to Antonio Morrison: you can bark at whomever you want.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office has dropped charges of resisting arrest and harassing a police dog stemming from Morrison’s Sunday arrest, according to the USA Today and other outlets.

The dismissal, by way of a written statement from Florida state attorney Bill Cervone, was based on lack of evidence. Additionally, the statement says there was no malice on Morrison’s part when interfering with — er, “barking at” — the police dog. A video of the incident showed the Gator linebacker initially resisting arrest, but Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell told the Gainesville Sun that police probably overreacted to Morrison’s actions.

Morrison has been given at least a two-game suspension by head coach Will Muschamp. Whether or not that changes based on this latest development remains to be seen.

Bill Cervone cleans up the mess once again. “Lack of evidence” has to be the punchline to every joke over at his offices.

Regardless of the outcome I think it’s safe to say that this young man should curb his alcohol intake. Just about every incident I’ve read about, no matter the school or conference, overconsumption is always a factor.

The arrest was totally unnecessary. Obviously GPD doesn’t have a lot going on of they drop all actions to arrest a kid barking at a dog. Ridiculous.
