Medical redshirt approved for Texas LB Jordan Hicks

Texas linebacker Jordan Hicks sustained a hip injury in an early season win over Ole Miss last year. About two months later, and after being mentioned on multiple injury reports, Hicks was officially ruled out for the remainder of the year and the university said Hicks would apply for a medical redshirt.

Via Max Olson of ESPN.com, UT officials confirmed Tuesday during Big 12 Media Days that Hicks has been approved for a medical redshirt. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining for the Longhorns beginning this season.

Before suffering his injury in 2012, Hicks led the team with 23 tackles and was tied for second in tackles for loss with three. Hicks was recently voted as a member of the preseason first-team All-Big 12 squad.

If he has a big year, which he is more than capable of, he’ll prolly just declare anyway.

Second on team with three tackles for losses….not a good stat for the defense.
