Knee surgery ends season before it begins for Sparty WR

After a solid spring game in which he caught a touchdown pass, Michigan State wide receiver A.J. Troup appeared to be an emerging contributor for the Spartans’ offense.

That won’t be the case after all. Troup tweeted Tuesday that he’s undergoing knee surgery and an associate athletic director confirmed to Mlive.com that the surgery will cost Troup the 2013 season. The injury reportedly happened earlier this month.

Troup sustained an ACL tear while in high school and has had knee issues in the past. The redshirt sophomore has yet to see any game action, but had among the most consistent springs of any player in the wide receiver unit for Michigan State.
