Georgia Tech, Alabama postpone future series

Penn State and West Virginia appear to be in the final stages of scheduling a future home-and-home series. Alabama and Georgia Tech, on the other hand, are postponing their future series indefinitely.

An Alabama spokesperson confirmed to al.com that the two games, scheduled for 2019 in Tuscaloosa and 2020 in Atlanta, will not be played as previously agreed. Whether the series will be rescheduled for another date is unclear.

This is the second time the series has been pushed back. The two schools initially agreed to play in 2013 and 2014.

There’s plenty of uncertainty for both sides when it comes to future schedules. Tide coach Nick Saban has expressed interest in going to a nine-game SEC slate, which could still happen in the next few years, and Georgia Tech will soon add Notre Dame to its schedule on a rotating basis thanks to the ACC’s agreement with the Irish.
