Muschamp receives a $250K bump from Gators

After receiving a contract extension last August, Will Muschamp now has himself another tweaked deal that will boost his pay each year for the remainder of said deal.

Florida announced Friday that its head football coach will receive a $250,000 a year raise each of the remaining years on his contract. Muschamp’s current deal runs through the 2017 season.

Muschamp will make $2.95 million in 2013.

“Dr. (Bernie) Machen and I believe very strongly in Coach Muschamp and his leadership and we felt it was appropriate to adjust his salary to be more in line with his market value.” UF athletic director Jeremy Foley said in a statement.

In 2012, Muschamp was the eighth-highest paid head coach in the SEC. The new raise should move him up one spot on the conference pay scale in 2013.

In two season with the Gators after replacing Urban Meyer, Muschamp has gone 18-8 overall and 10-6 in conference play. Last year’s Sugar Bowl berth was the program’s first BCS game since the 2009 season.
