Tuberville’s son to walk on at Auburn

Tucker Tuberville

Five years after Tommy Tuberville “voluntarily resigned” as Auburn’s head coach, another individual with the same surname is headed to The Plains.

Tucker Tuberville, reports, has decided to become a walk-on for the Tigers football team.  Tucker Tuberville is, of course, the son of the former AU coach.

A true freshman walk-on at Texas Tech last season, the quarterback followed his dad to Cincinnati after the elder Tuberville abruptly dumped the Red Raiders several months ago.  The reason he decided to leave the Bearcats for the Tigers is unclear.

The younger Tuberville will not be eligible to play in 2013 but will be permitted to practice with his new Tiger teammates.

The reason why he resigned was because he stopped recruiting…he never recruited a top ten class, he never played young talent, was conservative offensively. He got too comfortable after killing the crimson rednecks six years in a row. (Classes of 07, and 08 never lost to their rivals) that being said he is still a legend at Auburn and the SEC can thank him and Mike slive for those six straight national championships. Deservingly so. Hope tuberville learns what he needs to at AU. Wish him luck

Tubbs was coach at Ole Miss when Tucker was born. I was working at the hospital and met coach/son on their first solo trip around the floor.

Some Auburn fans may not like the way Tommy started slacking at the end of his tenure, but whenever the announcer at Jordan-Hare says Tucker’s name I think it is safe to say he’ll get a big cheer from the fans.

Tuberville beat Bama 6 times in a row. Hardly anyone beats Bama period, much less 6 in a row. Granted it was pre-Saban, but Bama is Bama.

Good luck to Tucker, War Eagle!

Lots and lots and lots of teams beat Bama back in the days when Tubbs was holding up fingers. I wish I could agree it was impressive, but we’re talking about the years when I’d circle the MS and Sun Belt teams on the schedule as “definite maybe wins”.
