Johnny Manziel makes news again for being Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel, Kenric McNeal, Dustin Harris AP

What’s it been, about 13 days or so since the soap opera-like life and times of Johnny Manziel made headlines for something off the field?  Yeah, we were due.

The latest “incident” involving the Texas A&M quarterback and reigning Heisman winner reportedly took place on the campus of A&M’s bitter in-state rival, the University of Texas.  Specifically, it took place at a UT frat party.

Even more specifically, it involved someone taking a cellphone video showing what’s purported to be a pink-shirted Manziel — he of the Longhorn “tribute tattoo” — getting booted from said frat party, replete with a beer toss that would make Tyler Bray proud.

The video, courtesy of Burnt Orange Nation, appears below.  Be warned, the 20-second clip contains some rather salty language that likely would be considered NSFW, unless you happen to be a sailor or a truck driver.  In that case, crank it up.

Regardless, view away:

As is ofttimes the case with the utter obsession over Manziel, though, we’re compelled to say but wait, there’s more…

For good measure, Manziel — at least, Deadspin proclaims it to be Manziel — was photographed at another UT frat party… wearing a Tim Tebow New York Jets jersey, a Johnny Football/St. Timothy combination that may cause the Internet to literally implode upon itself.

The Aggies open the season at home against Rice Aug. 31 and, as always, the new football year cannot get here soon enough.

Pink shirt? I just know there’s a joke there somewhere……

  5. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 27, 2013 10:31 PM

Judging from the (in)accuracy of the beer can that was thrown at him, I can only guess that David Ash was the guy that threw it at him.

  6. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 27, 2013 10:57 PM

And people who take cell phone videos in portrait mode deserve to step in dog shit every day for a week.

  7. donth8thehorns says: Jul 27, 2013 11:02 PM

How is this news? The dude , just wants to Be a dude…. People throwing $4it at him and it’s his fault? Please, most of this is trumped up B$… And the media and fans buy into it like it’s relevant

I’ll be worried when Manziel starts hangin with Bieber. Until then, drink up and relax..

Not many opposing players can make Saban flail his arms around like a wacky inflatable man. I’m excited to watch what this kid does this season with the football world watching.

Only NBC sports reports stupid news. So dumb, lower than low. This news story should be “How dumb is NBC sports?” So so so stupid.

  12. barbeaux says: Jul 28, 2013 1:04 AM

Most stupid article ever. Who cares!?!?!? He’s a college kid. Get over it.

  13. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 28, 2013 1:40 AM

Somehow, all this is Johnny Manziel’s fault.

Oh wait, no it’s not. It’s the witch hunt that Taylor and Kercheval conduct on Johnny Manziel.

And it must suck that Johnny Football just took all the media air out of the “Texas Stampede” recruiting weekend for you guys.

I think Sumlin told him to go crash some frat parties this weekend.

  14. canetic says: Jul 28, 2013 9:13 AM

Someone has a drinking problem. Hope that A&M doesn’t have any noon games this year. He might oversleep. Or “dehydrate.”

  17. timothysykesdick says: Jul 28, 2013 12:03 PM

Johnny manziel is one overrated dick

  18. mediocrebob says: Jul 28, 2013 12:20 PM

For you saying this is stupid…it’s Manziel’s fault that this is news. Sure let him “be a dude”. But people aren’t going to let him bc of his arrogance and what he’s done in the past.

And the whole ” NBC Sports talk would only be the ones to report something like this” is funny. They’re doing their job. If it were Tebow all of you A&M fans would be loving it

  19. tobeexact says: Jul 28, 2013 12:24 PM

Its actually quite funny , and yes this is
what the media does. If he was not the hiesman winner
it would never make the news , but he is so it sells.
But it is kinda funny how they kept his arrest quiet until after
he won the hiesman trophy, you know he wouldnt have
won if the voters knew. Can you say lack of institional control, I know you can. And oh now you blame the media for putting out a story you dont think is the whole truth and
that everyone believes what they read.
Well all I can say is its a different story when there throwing shit out there about your school or someone you
like, but alot of peeps jumped on that ban wagon when they put out a bunch of non factual crap about penn state.
but everyone jumped on the persacution band wagon then.
I personally think its a bunch of bull crap ,he is a college kid
and they are going to party so leave the kid alone, they dont report on every single student that parties ,just because
he is a star football player shouldn’t make a difference.
But all you have to do is look at all the off season stories,
about this player got in trouble for this and this player got arrested for this ,its all a bunch of bull but it gets people
to read or watch which equals dollar signs.
If the ncaa wanted to according to them ,slap all those schools with lack of institutional control on non ncaa violations, because they can as they put it use a catch all ,lack of institutional control. It just goes to show you that coaches dont know everything there players are doing or what there assistant coaches are doing and its impossible for them to do so. And thats not there job either,so to label any coach as the most powerful man on campus and that they should know everything thats going on even with people who are no longer with the program is absurd and down right idiotic. What are they not aloud a life them selves, are they suppose to assign a baby sitter to every player or coach and have there entire campus every square inch under camera survalience and listening devices.
Its a joke the ncaa is a joke and cant even monitor there own people the whole twenty of them but there gona hold coaches to saint hood , what a joke.

  20. barbeaux says: Jul 28, 2013 1:22 PM

His arrest wasn’t kept quiet. Nice try though.

  21. dcroz says: Jul 28, 2013 1:35 PM

For those of you saying that only NBC Sports would report stuff like this on Manziel: not only is NBC not the only ones reporting this, but they’re actually a day or two behind the curve. Other websites have been reporting it for at least the last 24 hours. Though with that said, I agree: football season cannot get here fast enough.

  22. amosalanzostagg says: Jul 28, 2013 3:26 PM

Frat boys acting like frat boys. I guess they were afraid their dates would start gravitating toward Johnny Football and Johnny completing his passes to new wide receivers and tight ends.

  24. chrisbradley9 says: Jul 28, 2013 4:35 PM

I did not know Ryan Leaf had a son? Turns out he does, Johnny Football is a illegitimate child of Ryan Leaf! Now we know the problem.

  25. gmsalpha says: Jul 28, 2013 7:56 PM

He better be just as impressive on the field this year as he was last year. He can (barely) get away with this moronic behavior because he wins football games and is exciting to watch. But when the day comes that his on the field value slips, his actions off the field won’t be overlooked, nor tolerated.

  26. barbeaux says: Jul 28, 2013 8:53 PM

Honestly, I’m kind of at a loss with all of the Ryan leaf comparisons. Was leaf “problematic” during the offseasons during his college career? Surely not since he was drafted #1. He got into hardcore drug problems after college, right? I think people scrutinize and idolize athletes too much. You can’t control them. They’re not your little action figures to keep stowed away until game day. Also, plenty of QB’s that walked the so called straight and narrow have had bad NFL careers…McCoy, Russell, that guy from Oregon…the list goes on. It’s been the summer. He’s a college kid. The heisman isn’t the best pet award. Get over the scrutiny.

Unless my memory is fading, Manning went #1 and Leaf was #2-both in the draft and on the field.

Did I really hear somebody rootin for A&M say this overgrown hype would never get into any trouble compared to my LSU Tigers? Well it seems to me the one who was shootin their mouth off has l’il room to be doin that now. When will it come about that when you scream these are just kids havin fun you get the message that some of these “so called kids” are havin younger kids look up to em as role models and not to mention havin bad cases of Hero Worship are makin piss poor role models for those younger ones? Trouble seems to be found on every campus and just not LSU.

  30. cranespy says: Jul 28, 2013 10:28 PM

In all that has been said about Johnny Football since he became a household name….no one has written about his home life…….he comes from VERY WEALTHY PARENTS…obviously he has been raised with a silver pacifier in his mouth and he has NEVER answered to anyone. Better enjoy the ride while it lasts….he will never have the discipline to make it in the NFL.

  31. suprmous says: Jul 28, 2013 11:45 PM

cranespy, comin from where he comes from makes no difference. I tried to show where Tyrann Mathieu came from nothin when everybody was judgin him and all I got; with the exception of those who know as I do, was who the hell cares attitude. At least he’s got 2 parents, had a decent roof over his head, hot n cold runnin watah for takin a bath, food to go in his stormach, didn’t have to fight the local riff raff, and the list goes on. Get my point, Bubba?

  32. coltzfan166 says: Jul 29, 2013 2:14 AM

It looked to me like he was leaving on his own will. It’s Johnny Manziel. Of course people are gonna yell things like “Get the f-ck out!” That’s the nature of rivalry in sports. But it didn’t look like he was being kicked out.

Can’t wait for your 15 minutes to expire

  34. cranespy says: Jul 29, 2013 6:35 AM

Supremos……only point was he obviously always did what he wanted….his life of HAVING appears to have contributed to his penchant for doing what he wants and
ignoring advice. My guess is the Honey Badger has a far better chance of making it in spite of his raising than JF does.

  35. amosalanzostagg says: Jul 29, 2013 9:43 AM

Johnny Manziel is a college kid doing what college students do, spreading their wings and looking to grow up on their own. Is he having problems, sure.
In the world of 24/7/365 scrutiny by a sports and social media press, I seriously doubt any normal immature college kid with a modicum of fame would handle the situation much better.

Manziel will be fine once he realizes fame is fleeting.

    RTR

  36. bigbuckeye76 says: Jul 29, 2013 10:09 AM

Sorry, but he wont be “fine.”

He is going to flame out in spectacular fashion and end up like Marijuanovich or Schliester or any of the other football players who achieve fame early and who’s parents are either missing or obviously don’t care.

    He is beginning to spiral..

  37. shizosolja says: Jul 29, 2013 10:43 AM

How is this Manziel’s fault? He is a student of T A&M, not UT, he is 20 years old and it would be illegal for him to drink in the first place, and HE IS A HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER, he should show some class and respect for the honor that had been bestowed on him, not acting like a spoiled dick. Most college student DON’T act like this let alone ON ANOTHER SCHOOLS CAMPUS. One thing has become quite clear, Manziel has terrible character and the people enabling him (fans, his father) need to stop before he ends on the cover of Sports Illistrated in handcuffs (which he would have last year if people had even known who he was at the time).

  38. Liga Del Tacos Rosa says: Jul 29, 2013 11:38 AM

Most college kids at A&M have been to Austin to party. It’s only a short drive away. Everyone trying to crucify the Anti-Tebow needs to take a deep breath.

  39. 11inthebox says: Jul 29, 2013 12:42 PM

It’s interesting. I’m seeing a lot of people showing support for Manziel by sating “he’s just a kid,” or applying the old “boys will be boys” theory.

It doesn’t seem like those allowances are made for anyone else. At least not in these parts.

  40. jgater1981 says: Jul 29, 2013 5:16 PM

I’m kind of at a loss for words that his antics get the old “he’s just a kid” while Manti Te’o was dragged through the coals for what happened to him. Is it because A&M just gets a “meh” because they don’t matter? I don’t get it.

  41. doubleogator says: Jul 29, 2013 5:49 PM

Not old enough to drink? yeah right like that’s gonna stop him…like another post said, he’s spiraling down…Johnny Goofball

  42. goodfieldnohit says: Jul 29, 2013 7:11 PM

Waco, TX – Texas A&M Star Johnny Manziel was driving through Waco today when he stopped at a Valero Gas Station to use the restroom. Eyewitness reports are that Manziel used the handicap stall to relieve himself. According to Brian Talbot, a 2003 cum-laude graduate of the Baylor Business school, who cleans the restroom: “Yeah, Johnny used the handicap stall to take a dump, there weren’t any handicap people waiting, but what if there were?” Talbot also added: “and he used up way too much toilet paper!” Early reports are unclear whether Manziel flushed or not.

  44. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 30, 2013 1:15 PM

On one hand I just wanna go up an slap this kid and tell him, “you know how much you are costing yourself with each of these incidents???”

But on the other hand, he’s like a cell phone magnet, he can’t go anywhere without it making youtube and twitter. It’s a vicious cycle. I do have to say though…. a UT frat party?? There were no A&M frat parties worth going to that night? (Ironically it still would have made headlines)

I tell you what though, I watched the A&M v Bama game on Sunday on ESPN…. damn I forgot how much fun it is to watch him play.

Wish ALL the great players of the past could get this instant media treatment. You would think reporters could find something newsworthy to report on instead of this silliness. There are bigger and more important things than “Johnny was thrown out of party.” Obviously he is being targeted by the press because they want to find something to make him look bad. C’mon press aren’t there a few other players out there to harass? Move on press you are looking stupid AGAIN!

  47. 8to80texansblog says: Jul 30, 2013 4:19 PM

I don’t blame this on the media…. they are just the conduit. This is a problem with us as humans. The media is going to show us what we want to see.

The problem is why do we care?

  48. theuglitruth says: Jul 31, 2013 4:03 PM

This dude is great! I love that we can watch the town idiot throw his life away….take no responsibility for his actions, and blame others like the “media” or the “fame”, or the “pressure”. I want to send him a note says “Thanks for being an idiot”. On the other side of the coin, I would send a note to AJ McCarran and let him know “Dude, you got a hot GF, but your boring. Even though you won a national championship…we expected you to do a dumb thing or two….thanks for letting us down.”
