Video of incident involving Carlos Hyde released

Michigan v Ohio State Getty Images

Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde won’t face assault charges, by the alleged victim’s request, stemming from a nightclub incident that occurred earlier this month. But at least now we’re able to see what actually happened.

A video of the incident was released Tuesday afternoon via WTVN in Columbus. The footage appears to show Hyde exchanging swipes with the woman, though it’s less clear if contact was made by either side. Either way,¬†Hyde is still serving an indefinite suspension from coach¬†Urban Meyer.

You can watch the video below. Hyde comes in at about the 2:20 mark and things escalate at about the 3:15 mark.

Mindy Drayer at Channel 4 in Columbus who claims Hyde made contact and got into an argument, saying something belligerent, to this victim, must have the eyes of an eagle.

That check cleared pretty fast. Did anyone really think Hyde was really going to miss any real time.

Pretty clear that he hit her. I buy the open hand thing, but uncool. Nothing right about that. No vindication here.

The skinny white guy in the wife beater should have been the one getting slapped.

When story first came he SMASHED some defenseless helpless female in the face and KNOCKED her out Friday style.

Yeah about that. This bimbo tried to hit him first and he reacted almost instinctively with MAYBE a slight push in the face. She almost ruined his life with her lies

    PURE VINDICATION

He will be enjoying his National Championship Ring this year.

Urban smoothed this over like he was back in Florida again.

Seriously?!?! I watched this thing about 5 times and it is amazingly hard to see anything definitive! Yes, he made a move back toward her but I cannot say for certain if contact happened at all! It could have been a slap or it could have been a ‘psyche out’ move that caused her to flinch…

For those saying Urban had anything to do with charges being dropped are morons!

The guy with the flashlight is Paul Hargis, a mentally challenged imbecile who posts on these threads. He’s asking the guys if he can blow any of them. Strange dude….

Way to go Carlos! You showed her!

  13. thraiderskin says: Jul 30, 2013 7:59 PM

yeah… there is no vindication, but she should be in as much trouble as he is, some guy comes at you in the the club, you go to a bouncer. He should be suspended, but I don’t think his “tap” is anything crazy and I think it is more reactionary. I imagine the situation went like this:
Officer “ma’am, he does appear to make contact with you.”
    “Victim” “Thank goodness…”
Officer “but if you press charges against him, you’re going to be in just as much trouble as far as the law in concerned.”
    “Victim” “well then, nevermind.”

You’re right Raider. Only problem is a full grown man doesn’t put his hands on a woman regardless.

I don’t think Hyde should miss time but its time for Urban to reform some of his young men as he did over and over again at UF…

Not to make light of a supposedly violent encounter, but … what did he do? I’ve watched it a few times and can’t tell that he even made contact. Seems like something minor was blown out of proportion.

This video is including inclusive about ANYTHING! It appears is the phrase everyone should preface any comments with. Obviously, if the CPD cannot even make a case with their video equipment, there is no case to be had. The girl can drop the charges and the police still file, so for those saying payoff….that makes no sense. Essentially, Hyde got suspended for just not walking away. Doesn’t matter if she took the first swing, she is not a football player. Live and learn.

  17. mtheparrothead says: Jul 31, 2013 6:58 AM

Only in ohio is it “vindication” to swing at a female and not hit her.

“But officer, my trailers only six feet wide! I was bound to hit something!”

  18. Deb says: Jul 31, 2013 10:46 AM

    @mtheparrothead …

I’m not from Ohio and have no dog in this hunt. But please tell me where on that video you saw him “swing”?

    Fixed it for you!

    @ thehakko936

Well played sir, well played. Can we just get another bowl ban for shady biz in Columbus?

@parrot – nobody that I’ve seen on any of the Buckeye sites and on CFT is vindicated about any of this! Nobody on any of the Buckeye sites and on CFT that I’ve seen condones violence against women! The video is inconclusive as to whether she made contact or what his response actually was and if he even made contact! The cops did not think so after some 10 plus days of analysis and investigation! Had there been something even remotely conclusive that they could prove and prosecute, they would have filed charges regardless of what the woman wanted to do!

In the end, Carlos Hyde violated team rules and has now been suspended for at least 3 days!

Do me a favor and stop projecting your stupidity into blanket indictments about the entire Buckeye Nation!
