Starting TCU O-lineman leaves team for ‘personal reasons’

Well, this is unexpected.

Just a month before the start of the season, TCU has announced that tackle Tayo Fabuluje has left the team citing personal reasons. There was no other explanation for the departure.

Fabuluje, a BYU transfer, started 12 games for the Horned Frogs last year and was named Honorable Mention All-Big 12. His absence, in addition to being surprising, is a big loss along the O-line.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai is currently listed as the No. 2 behind Fabuluje, but Gary Patterson could shuffle some guys around. James Dunbar, who left the team last year because of academic issues before returning in the spring, could also see some playing time.

Patterson is a phenomenal coach, and he has some time to adjust. But the Horned Frogs’ season opener against LSU will now feature an O-line without one of its best players against a D-line that is, generally speaking, a strong point for the Tigers.
