A&M D-lineman will miss season opener because of suspension

Not everything Kevin Sumlin said during Monday’s press conference revolved around Johnny Manziel. Actually, there’s another Aggies player who will definitely be missing some playing time this season.

Sumlin said that defensive lineman Kirby Ennis will miss the Aggies’ season opener against Rice because of his offseason arrest on a gun-related charge. He had previously been suspended indefinitely.

Ennis started 11 games for the Aggies last season as a junior and recorded 24 tackles.

Additionally, Sumlin said the statuses of projected starting cornerback Deshazor Everett and safety Floyd Raven were still up in the air. The pair faced assault charges stemming from an incident in April.

“That decision is forthcoming pending further investigation,” Sumlin said. “There’s still a lot of information out there we’re gathering.”

Way to set that precedent Sumlin! 1 whole game. Wow! Pathetic! Just really brings the Manziel stuff into focus. Sumlin has no control over his team because he doesn’t offer discipline. Other two will be back by the Alabama game count on it.

Without reading the story… someone had to be punished for manziel.

He got into a road rage incident and pulled out his gun. He didn’t fire it. Only displayed it. Not sure if he had a license for it or not.

It’s a very stupid thing to do…. But less criminal than say Oral Sexual Assualt on a minor….

I think maybe 2 games would have been more appropriate but from what I know this is a first offense.

is anyone REALLY surprised by this? We are talking about Kevin Sumlin… He unsuspended two players last year so they could play florida in week one after a hurricane moved their game with LA Tech back… Sumlin doesn’t instill discipline in his players and everybody knows it!

That’s right coach, you punish this guy by making him not play in 100 degree weather against the powerhouse that is Rice. SMH

What he did deserves a suspension. Now can we expect Les to do the same for the POS Jeremy Hill? I don’t think so.
