That whole post about Pittsburgh losing a linebacker that appears a ways down the page? Forget about. Pretend it never happened.
Speaking to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the high school basketball coach of Todd Thomas revealed that his former player has decided to return to the Panthers football program. The coach, Doug Biega, told the paper that he has been talking to Thomas over the past several days in an attempt to get the linebacker to change his mind.
Per Biega, Thomas and head coach Paul Chryst have worked out their differences and the former will now be making his return.
Just yesterday, Chryst had confirmed that Thomas had not been with the team and, it seemed, a return was unlikely. Thomas had been demoted to the second-team defense on the first day of camp, which was apparently the impetus for his initial decision to bolt. Regardless of why Thomas changed his mind, it’s a boost for the Panthers.
After missing the first four games of the 2012 season as he recovered from a knee injury, Thomas played in nine games, starting seven of those contests. For his career with the Panthers, Thomas played in 19 games and started 13.
