In a statement released by the school Friday, UAB head coach Garrick McGee announced that he has dismissed wide receiver Jackie Williams from the football program. There was no reason given for the dismissal.
“Jackie is a good kid and a good player, but what’s best for our football program is that we part ways,” McGee said in his statement.
Williams led the Blazers with 52 receptions for 799 yards in 2012. The senior exits the program No. 4 all-time in career receptions (140) and career yards (1,733).
He had caught at least one pass in all 35 games in which he played.
