Cal DB released from hospital

There’s even better news on top of the good news that followed a very scary practice incident at Cal Monday evening.

According to the school, safety Avery Sebastian was released from the hospital very early Tuesday morning following a brief overnight stay. There’s been no word yet from the school on the specific nature of the injury/injuries or when he’ll be able to resume football activities.

Sebastian sustained what appeared to be a head/neck injury after colliding with a teammate, leaving him motionless on the practice field for a period of 15 minutes or more. An ambulance was called to the scene and, after having his head immobilized, the defensive back was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Shortly thereafter, however, Cal sent out a press release stating that the player had movement in all of his extremities.

Of the 12 games in which Sebastian played in 2012, four of those were starts. Provided he’s healthy, the junior will enter the 2013 season as the Golden Bears’ starting strong safety.
