Sunday offseason one-liners

Chris Petersen, Geraldo Boldewijn AP

Some links from around college football on a Sunday…

Adam Sparks of the Daily News Journal writes that an overlooked NCAA rule could keep a Middle Tennessee player and Marine off the field this year. Great work here.

— Looks like South Carolina has its hands (and mouth) full with this NCAA violation that involves a turkey avocado wrap. You honestly cannot make his stuff up.

— Missouri likely won’t have any starters from the St. Louis area this year. Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch explains why that recruiting connection is important.

— Is that Tyrone Prothro playing for USC? USC wide receiver Aaron Minor is certainly doing his best impression here with this amazing catch in practice.

— Boise State senior wide receiver Geraldo Boldewijn is, at long last, ready for a breakout season.

— Wisconsin won’t announce a starting quarterback until the season opener.

— Stanford’s running back group figures to be deep with a lot of rotation used.

— How would Jadeveon Clowney actually win the Heisman? Football Study Hall examines.

The NCAA, as many/all are saying, is quite the joke. It’s a clown show run by ass clowns and I detest, in totality, the (dis)organization that is the NCAA… Having said all of that I think the majority of blame specific to the myriad inane NCAA scenarios we’ve all read about over the years should NOW be placed squarely on the shoulders of the schools themselves. Not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because they collectively continue to allow the NCAA to czar over their conferences and BULLY them without a fight. If my neighbor punches me in the face and takes my lunch money and I don’t fight back, well, shame on him. If he continually punches me in the face and I don’t fight back then shame on us both. The NCAA is continually punching its member schools in the face and NEVER getting hit back. If I were the B1G, PAC12, SEC, ACC, BIG12 and ND I would cede from the NCAA, tell em to pound sand, form my own association and play for my own national title at seasons end.

The NCAA runs college football like the government runs our country. I agree with you 10kmp it’s time to do something. I hope college football will finally put its foot down on the NCAA. Enough is enough.
