Auburn DE expected to miss season opener

Dee Ford led Auburn in sacks a year ago. Any chance for him to wreak havoc in opposing backfields this season will be delayed by at least a game, however.

Tigers defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said there was “no question” that Ford will miss the season opener against Washington State. The senior has been hampered by a knee injury for the past week or so and could be out an extended period of time. The good news for Auburn is that the injury won’t require surgery.

Ford had six sacks last season for a loss of 38 yards. He is expected to start along the D-line for Auburn when he does return to the field.
