Braxton Miller, not Johnny Football, new Heisman betting favorite

Thanks to the uncertainty swirling around Johnny Manziel and his myriad Herbie Hancocks, the reigning Heisman winner is no longer the degenerates’ favorite to take home this year’s version of the stiff-armed trophy.

In odds released by Bovada.lv, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller is now a 9/2 favorite to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Back in February, Miller’s odds were 7/1. Jadeveon Clowney, who enters the 2013 season with arguably the best chance of becoming the first-ever strictly defensive player to claim the award, sits right behind Miller 6/1.

So, where does Manziel fall in the latest round of odds? After 4/1 in February, the Texas A&M quarterback has fallen all the way to 15/1. That puts Johnny Football behind eight other players: Miller; Clowney; Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (9/1); Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron (10/1; Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota (12/1; and Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon and Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd, all at 14/1.

Of the 28 players listed by Bovada, 17 are quarterbacks, seven are running backs and three are wide receivers. Clowney, a Gamecocks defensive end, is the only defensive player currently on Bovada‘s board.

Below are all of the latest odds, again courtesy of Bovada.lv:
