Ok. St. transfer eligible to play right away for Houston

After leaving Stillwater last year, Mike Mustafa now knows he will indeed be suiting up and playing at the FBS level this season.

Houston announced Sunday that the defensive tackle has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately in 2013. UH appealed for a waiver on the player’s behalf, although it’s unclear on what grounds.

The Katy, Tex., native will have three years of eligibility available beginning this year.

Mustafa left Oklahoma State in August of 2012 for “personal reasons,” presumably to be closer to family in the Houston area. He took a redshirt as a true freshman in 2011.
