Some links from around college football on a Thursday…

– Michigan players got a visit from former quarterback Tom Brady.

– Texas defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat shares a special bond with his father.

– There is still no imminent deal for Time Warner Cable to carry the Longhorn Network.

– The Desmond Harrison eligibility soap opera at Texas has come to an end.

– Former Baylor running back Terrance Ganaway is retiring from the NFL.

– Here’s a really cool piece from Paul Myerberg at the USA Today about what makes Nick Saban and Urban Meyer so good.

– What’s good, and what’s bad, about Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez.

–  There’s still no official word on the injury to UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr.

You know when it would have been great for Tom Brady to visit Michigan? Back in 2008 when he had the season off from the NFL and Rich Rod was losing non-stop and the team needed some guidance. Now that their winning again it’s okay for him to come visit.

Between him and Brees never visiting their alma maters when the programs really needed them the most just spells selfish to me.

Ya it’s stupid to think when one of the most celebrated and historic football programs in D-1 needed someone to talk with the team during an unusually bad time. Their most famous graduate not named President Ford wouldn’t help out at all. I mean it’s not like Tom Brady visiting would have helped with recruiting or anything.

When I finish my 4th degree in engineering next year I’ll give you a call. I’m sure your GED certificate must look great framed on the wall next to that McDonald’s employee of the month trophy.
