Former four-star WR transferring from Rutgers

As the Newark Star-Ledger bluntly put it, Miles Shuler is leaving the  Rutgers “after two nondescript years in the program.”

Friday morning, head coach Kyle Flood announced that the wide receiver has indeed decided to transfer from the Scarlet Knights.  No reason was given for the departure, although slotting on the depth chart would be a place to start.

Shuler came to RU with great acclaim, given four stars by Rivals.com as part of Greg Schiano‘s final recruiting class in 2011.  He was rated by that recruiting service as the No. 16 receiver in the country and the No. 3 player at any position in the state of New Jersey.

After no receptions in seven games as a true freshman, Shuler then caught five passes for 71 yards in 2012.

    Where’s he transferring to?

Clearly, Miles Shuler is (was) the fastest player on the team. The fact Kyle Flood could not find a spot for him either returning kick-offs, fielding punts, as a slot receiver, in the backfield, etc. is further indication this coach is in over his head. I can’t wait for Nova to throw his first interception and for Coach Flood to rationalize why it happened. It’s ALWAYS someone else’s fault but NEVER QB Gary Nova’s! I have not read ANYTHING about who the back-up QB will be at Rutger’s this coming season. Not one shred of written material about QB Chas Dodd or any other QB for that matter…..Rutger’s motto supposedly is “FAMILY”. Well the FAMILY is starting to break-up and Flood will be through. Look for Arkansas to come to Rutger’s Stadium and hand them a whipping…….don’t be too surprised if Fresno St. also gives them a little “what for”…..

@thegamecocker you really don’t like Flood huh?

Those who support Flood will say he brought RU their only Big East Championship. Sorry but I don’t see it that way. Out of the 8 Big East teams last year, 4 of them “shared the championship”. RU could have won it outright had they beaten a limping Louisville team the last game of the season. Despite a 14-3 lead at the half, they lost. They started the season 7-0 with the only decent team they beat Cincy. They finished the last 6 games 2-4 including a laugher at Pitt and an embarrassment against as very weak Va Tech team. They could start the season 1-2 with the one being against POWERFUL NORFOLK ST. Honestly, I think the he has a “BROMANCE” going with Gary Nova.
