Ohio State confirms CB Najee Murray is off the team

Najee Murray

Ohio State cornerback Najee Murray was reportedly dismissed from the team earlier this month… before he wasn’t. But he’s officially off the team now.

OSU confirmed Thursday via the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Murray has in fact left the team and has been given his release. Urban Meyer said earlier this month that Murray was suspended for a “training camp issue.” A previous report said that he had been dismissed from the team.

As a true freshman and mainly on special teams, Murray played in the first six games of the 2012 season before going down with a torn ACL. He was expected to contribute similarly in 2013

Kick players off the team that don’t get arrested. Keep the players that do.

    Interesting strategy.

Meat chicken is the worst nickname for a hated school…ever. Makes no sense. Be more creative.

utteke Sounds more like a “the osu” fan. Like they say you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig.

With Ohio State’s ludicrous schedule they could go undefeated without even putting corner-backs on the field. I hope two other teams that play real football schedules go undefeated so that OSU’s so-called “schedule” ends up biting them in the a$$.

  11. longsacktheclown says: Aug 23, 2013 10:13 AM

sillec28, you play the schedule you’re handed. Some of you people need to really think before you post. These things are made up years in advance, with nobody knowing how good or bad a team will be once they play you. Take a look at other teams ooc schedule, there are VERY few that play anyone all that tough. I don’t care what conference you play in, it’s hard to go undefeated. Stop just hating and learn how it works.

Run your mouth about Ohio State’s inner team issues… of which you know nothing.

    Also interesting.

    LongSack-

When have buffalo, Florida A&M , SD state been good? Not when these schedules were made. It doesn’t help that the perception of the B1G is so bad right now. I think they’ll be better than last year but don’t play the “you play the schedule your dealt” card.

2014 may be easier than this season too. But pretty soon nobody will be able to get away with it. Bc OSU isn’t the only guilty party. SOS will be big after this year.

Check SD’s record from last year. They won the Mountain West Conference by beating Boise State.

    10kmp-

Head coaches should punish players more severely when players are arrested, rather than when they violate “team rules.”

  16. mediocrebob says: Aug 23, 2013 1:43 PM

THEY WON THE MOUNTAIN WEST!!! My bad.

But seriously, think about your argument.

FAMU was added when Vandy backed out…smdh…

  18. tientzu1 says: Aug 23, 2013 2:45 PM

I stand corrected SDSU replaced Vandy when Vandy backed out…same thing different team

  19. ken49ers says: Aug 23, 2013 4:54 PM

It’s Ok, their entire schedule is just one big long bye week. The big ten is an insult.

  20. maxwellsaz says: Aug 23, 2013 6:08 PM

Ohio State has always been a class act and there is nothing different this year. When you are at the top, everybody becomes jealous and make unfounded statements. So whenever (won’t happen) your team becomes perennial champions, then log back in and make your comment. Great school/ great academics.

  21. steeldominance says: Aug 23, 2013 6:51 PM

That so Maxwell? HAHAHAH what a joke. Apparently you forgot about tattoogate and the beloved honest Tressel trying to cover it up. Or maybe all of the ridiculous comments made by Gee? Or O$U hiring Urban Meyer, the recruiter of thugs? Where does O$U rank amongst teams that graduate players? The school is a joke as is your comment.

  22. dkhhuey says: Aug 23, 2013 10:38 PM

@sportsguy – asshole posters should know the actual judicial system of the country they live in – perhaps they would understand the difference from being arrested based on initial reports, subsequently being charged, and then the case being closed or charges dropped after further investigation! But what am I thinking – you have no concern for facts because they directly contradict your stupidity!

  23. sportsguy88 says: Aug 24, 2013 3:25 PM

If the athletes didn’t put themselves in bad situations then they wouldn’t be arrested. UM has a history of recruiting “high character” kids. Notice the sarcasm.
