Thomas brothers go from UK to FCS level

When Kentucky takes the field for its late-season scrimmage in early November, the Wildcats could very well run across a pair of very familiar faces.

The Montgomery Advertiser reported Sunday that brothers Khalid and Pancho Thomas have joined the Alabama State football program.  The papers stated that the players, the former a running back and the latter a linebacker, have not practiced with the team as they have been undergoing routine medical tests, but should be on the field for workouts Monday.

As they will be dropping down a level, both players will be eligible to play immediately in 2013.

In mid-July, UK officials confirmed that the two players had been dismissed from the football program.  Other than unspecified violations of team rules, no reasons were given for the twin dismissals.

The Louisville Courier-Journal subsequently reported that both players had been cited for possession of a controlled substance July 6.

Pancho Thomas was a backup linebacker as a freshman this past season, playing in 10 games.  Khalid Thomas was a three-star member of the Wildcats’ 2013 recruiting class.
