Despite shoulder injury, Cal expects to have top WR for opener

Chris Harper may have missed Wednesday’s practice due to injury, but it’s not expected to have an impact on his availability when it really counts this weekend.

The wide receiver suffered a shoulder injury during practice Tuesday, sending him to the sidelines the following day.  That said, Harper’s expected to be back at practice today and, more importantly, for the opener against No. 22 Northwestern Saturday.

We expect him to play Saturday,” head coach Sonny Dykes said. “He basically sprained his shoulder.”

Last season, Harper finished second on the Bears in receptions (41), receiving yards (544) and receiving touchdowns (two).  With the departure of Keenan Allen, Harper is easily Cal’s leading returning receiver.
