Welcome to CFT, Chris Huston and Kevin McGuire

Revellers play with fireworks in an enclosed area on the main street of the village of Paterna near Valencia during the annual "Corda" festivity Reuters

As sad as it made me to say goodbye to my compatriot and good friend over the past three years, Ben Kercheval, late last week, I’m equally excited (pictured) as to the direction CFT has taken over the past several days.

Specifically, NBCSports.com has been kind enough to hire a pair of established college football writers — don’t get a big head, Ben; it doesn’t take two people to replace you — to help with CFT’s coverage during the 2013 season: Chris Huston and Kevin McGuire.

Huston, who you may now better as the “Heisman Pundit,” is formerly a CBSSports.com writer and is best known for his site, HeismanPundit.com, which is viewed as one of the leading Heisman sites in the country.  Chris can be found on Twitter @HeismanPundit.

McGuire, a member of both the Football Writers Association and National Football Foundation, manages Crystal Ball Run and has covered college football on a national level for the past several years. You can follow Kevin on Twitter @KevinOnCFB.

Kevin will begin his CFT tour of duty this evening, while Chris will come aboard Saturday, just in time for the meat of the season-opening weekend.

So, join me in welcoming both Chris and Kevin to the CFT team and, please dear readers, treat them gently and with kindness.  Or treat them the way you treat me and treated Ben.  Whichever extreme is fine.  Your call.

“… Or treat them the way you treat me and treated Ben.”

**** you, Chris and Kevin. You call that journalism? Getting pretty sick of your obvious anti-[my team/my conference] bias.

Always good to have new points of view. Welcome Chris and Kevin. If either of you can line up on defense, please report to Clemson on Saturday. My dawgs may not have enough players to field a team on the D side of the ball.

    microbrwuga:

I know the sentiment. Most of our left for the NFL, but they left. Now we have freshmen, same as you. GA will field a good team but facing Clemson and we’re facing TCU.

    Best to you “Dawgs!

    @ Ben Kercheval
    @ Kevin McGuire

Does CFT and Bleacher Report have some kind of exchange program?

I’m assuming Kevin is the same guy that use to cover Penn State all the time at BR? And wrote the following:

Anyone that understands Iggles Fans is okay with me

Well – I guess I can officially stop looking at my inbox for my job offer from Taylor to assume Ben’s position!

Oh well, welcome to the party Chris and Kevin!

A hearty welcome to the FNGs (f*cking new guys). Looking forward to your takes on the college football scene. The chance that you’ll pen something that doesn’t get someone’s panties in a wad on here is slim enough to be non-existent, so write what you feel. In fact I’m pretty sure the majority of us like to get outraged about something other than our daily grinds.

John, regarding that pic: Are you sure that’s one of you being excited for the new hires, or the one from after that ill-advised visit to Taco Bell?

On the advice of my attorney, I decline to answer that question.

    Welcome gentlemen,

As long as you are pro-Texas A&M, we got no problems. The second I read you questioning what Johnny Football is doing past 10:00 PM, it’s gonna be lights out for the both of ya’s.

    How’s that for drama?

    Welcome…

Welcome to the “new kids on the block” from da resident mous. Now that that’s outa the way does anybody have a case of Zantac they can spare? Ok, southernpatriots you and gatorsnapper can quit laughin now. I’d swear on 4 former Bama players’ reputation and out of one family (notably mine) along with that I not bein able to go the route of a stiff drink feel like this’ goin to be a doozy of a season for our beloved Tigers. If the game with those crockin frogs was any indication of things to come all I can think is woah, this’ gonna give a lot of us ulcers or at least try our nerves. And how is it Coach could look so cool and calm post game? That mad hatter’s wheels must turn constantly. Well any who’s and what’s it. Glad to have the new kids on the block, see old friends, and hopefully make new ones. But whoever has the Zantac don’t forget to throw it my way, hahaha.
