Nation’s leading rusher suspended for Arizona’s opener

Ka'Deem Carey AP

Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey will miss Friday night’s season opener against FCS opponent Northern Arizona. Mark Yam of the Pac 12 Network reported the late roster news just within hours of kickoff via Twitter. TucsonCitizen.com reports Carey was suspended for what is only being referred to as a violation of team rules for now.

Carey had been tied to charges of domestic violence in December but the two charges from that incident were dropped by the city if Tucson. Carey also had to be removed from an Arizona basketball game during the off-season.

What makes this all so strange, given the timing of the news, is the news breaks just within hours of Arizona’s season opener. To further add to the surpriseĀ of it all, Carey was placed first on the team’s depth chart for this week’s first game.

Fortunately for Arizona, the Wildcats should still manage to easily get by FCS Northern Arizona. Carey led the nation in rushing in 2012 with 1,929 yards and 23 touchdowns in 13 games.

The only way Arizona’s top offensive player will play in 13 games this season will be if the Wildcats reach the Pac 12 Championship Game. Possible, but perhaps a stretch.

Daniel Jenkins was listed second on Arizona’s depth chart and should be expected to take the majority of the carries Friday night. Jenkins rushed for 293 yards and two touchdowns in 2012.

How many times does this punk need to get in trouble before Rodriguez gets the message? This is his third transgression and its obvious Ka’Deem Carey has anger issues and should not be on a college campus.

“Carey had been tied to charges of domestic violence in December but the two charges from that incident were dropped by the city if Tucson. Carey also had to be removed from an Arizona basketball game during the off-season”.

He’s a thug who needs to be in solitary confinement.
