UM students busted for alcohol, pot on Big House turf

The Big House Night AP

Apparently, a handful of Michigan fans were hellbent on getting a very early start on their tailgating activities ahead of the season opener — and decided to do so on a prime piece of Big House turf for good measure.

According to AnnArbor.com, seven individuals were arrested very early Saturday morning and slapped with various charges after being found to be in possession of alcohol and marijuana on the playing surface of Michigan Stadium.  Six of the individuals were UM students, one was a visitor.

All seven, obviously, were charged with unlawful entry.  The other charges, per the website, are as follows:

One student was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol, a second student was arrested for an MIP and possession of suspected marijuana and a third student was arrested for failure to provide identification.

The website writes that it is “a time-honored tradition to break into The Big House and run around on the field.”

The Wolverines open the season at home Saturday against Central Michigan.

I like that tradition as opposed to the tradition of the losing to the Suckeyes.

“And we would have gotten away with it too if we hadn’t gotten the munchies and broken into Old Man Hoke’s closet full of Little Debbie’s.”

That much is true-of stadiums everywhere. I remember ahem, “friends telling me of doing such things” in the past. Things changed afer 2001 however as security got a whole lot tighter. With that extra security, basically harmless pranks became a much bigger deal.

The same fans can watch their team smoke in flames on that same field when the Buckeyes come to town in November!

Evidently, this is how the conversation went:

“The older you get, the more rules they try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin, man. L-I-V-I-N”

If this happened at Ohio State, the kids would get three credit hours and free tickets to their entire out of conference football schedule games (50 yard lines seats, because nobody cares and they perenially play nobody).

If this was a SEC stadium, the dopers would have gotten scholarships and been on the team by game time.
