Brandon Mitchell injured in NC State’s win

Brandon Mitchell’s first game as North Carolina State’s starting quarterback didn’t last nearly as long as expected.

Named the starter just prior to kickoff, Mitchell injured his left foot on the third series of the game and did not return to the playing field. He was later seen on the sidelines on crutches and wearing a protective boot; there has been no word yet from the school as to the extent of the injury and whether it will cost the player any game action.

Mitchell, who led the Wolfpack to touchdowns on their first two possessions, was replaced by Pete Thomas in the 40-14 win over Louisiana Tech.

Back in late May, Mitchell was one of four players given their release by Arkansas. A couple of weeks later, Mitchell transferred into the Wolfpack football program. He was permitted to play immediately as he had already graduated from UA.

Mitchell’s replacement, Thomas, came to the Wolfpack in January of this year after transferring from Colorado State.
